Auburn University partners with community for furniture drive for international students

Furniture donations are currently being collected, May 14 through early August, for a fall 2022 furniture giveaway and welcome event for new international graduate students in the Auburn community. A collaborative event between local families, Campus Outreach, RUF International, Auburn University InterConnect, and Grace Auburn Church, the Fall Furniture Giveaway is a volunteer-run program to help newly arrived students meet basic household needs.
Furniture and household items needed include:• Engineering offices• Mattresses and box springs• Sofas, loveseats or armchairs• Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables• Libraries and lamps• Cooking utensils, cooking utensils and dishes
InterConnect, an initiative of the Auburn University Graduate School, helps foster a successful transition to the United States and Auburn for international students. Additionally, InterConnect seeks to create a welcoming environment and facilitate cross-cultural exchange between our international students and the local community.
