EXCLUSIVE: PJH withdraws from the kitchen furniture market

National distributor PJH Group has announced that it will withdraw from the kitchen furniture market by June 30.

In a statement sent to staff, customers and suppliers earlier this month, PJH Group revealed that the decision to remove kitchen furniture – including countertops, lighting and accessories – from its portfolio followed a strategic review of the company.

The company added that the move follows “another successful year of business and growth in 2019” and would allow it to focus on growing its core categories of bathrooms, appliances, sinks and taps.

He assured customers that he would continue to support them throughout the six-month transition period and that kitchens already fitted or needing to be installed for orders until June 30 would still be honored by the full warranty.

The company has confirmed that no distribution center or PJH office will close as a result of the decision and revealed the space will be used to expand its stock of bathrooms, appliances, sinks and faucets. .

In its statement, PJH said it “envisions that all staff currently employed to support the kitchen furniture range will be redeployed to other areas of the business, avoiding mandatory layoffs where possible and improving the resources of the fastest growing PJH categories “.

Commenting on the decision, PJH Managing Director Richard George said: “The kitchen furniture business has been the smallest part of our business for quite some time. With the company experiencing excellent growth in other categories, particularly bathrooms, this is strategically a good time to exit the kitchen furniture business.

“With our new Spring / Summer Bathrooms to Love collection slated to launch in April and our latest home appliance guide featuring a wider range of brands slated for release in March, this move will allow us to dedicate more space. and support for other categories. It will also free up resources to continue improving our customer service, supporting our goal of being the customer’s first choice in the distribution of bathrooms, appliances, sinks and faucets.
