Global Orphan Empowerment Academy (GOEA), Thursday 16e December, distributed many office furniture valued at D334,000.00 to the laboratory department of Kanifing General Hospital and also gave the department a facelift to improve the comfortable environment for staff and staff. people visiting the hospital laboratory.

Presenting the papers that were received on behalf of the hospital by Mr. Baboucar Saine, Administrator of Kanifing General Hospital and Laboratory Service Staff, Ms. Mary Gillen, Executive Director of the International Humanitarian Program at Global Orphan Empowerment Academy (GOEA) said the old condition she encountered the lab during her visit was devastated and this prompted her to give the lab a facelift and donate the furniture.

According to her, she went to the hospital in January this year to do an antigen test and “I was a little devastated by the situation, which prompted me to speak to the deputy director of the laboratory. who was present during my visit “.

She added that until now GOEA was able to “paint both the interior and the exterior of the department and with the list of furniture collected from the department we are now able to donate these. furniture to improve the interior part of the laboratory. And we still have other projects coming up for the hospital.

By receiving the furniture on behalf of the laboratory service of the hospital, Baboucarr MA Saine, administrator of the Kanifing general hospital expressed his joy and congratulated the Gillen family for having dispensed largesse to the hospital, in particular in laboratory service.

He classified the donated furniture as being of high quality while claiming that recently Ms. Mary Gillen, Executive Director of the International Humanitarian Program at the Global Orphan Empowerment Academy, sponsored the refurbishment of the laboratory department.

“So, as an institution, we are extremely grateful to the Gillen family for this gesture. Really she came to this hospital for services and during the period she realized that the hospital needed support instead of criticizing the government or the institution she did exactly what every Gambian patriot should do, which we can all see now, ”Saine explained.

Mr Saine however took the opportunity to encourage Gambians to emulate what the donor has done, as this will help the country move forward as a nation and achieve a lot as a nation, ” rather than anything we often see on social media platforms.

He once again thanked the Gillen family and ensured the organization of a full and fruitful collaboration.

Ms. Aisherry, a biomedical scientist on behalf of the hospital and laboratory department, welcomed the GOEA to Kanifing General Hospital, saying her contribution to the department was very valuable “and we certainly care about you”. Adding that “this type of assistance is what is expected of us as Gambians”.

Kalifa Sanneh Darboe, Deputy Head of Laboratory Department on behalf of Kanifing General Hospital, thanked the Global Orphan Empowerment Academy led by Ms. Mary Gillen, Executive Director of the International Humanitarian Program.
