Summer is just a matter of weeks away, and many Britons are looking forward to long days in the garden sunbathing or hosting barbecues for the family. However, after a long winter in the garden, your outdoor furniture might look a little more worn.

How to clean your outdoor furniture with vinegar

The acidity of vinegar is what makes it an excellent cleanser.

The high percentage of acetic acid is able to dissolve scum, brines and even some sticky substances.

The experts at Red Hanger Cleaners recommend vinegar because it’s “also very cheap.”

They said: “Keep some vinegar in a spray bottle and use it whenever you start to see mold and mildew on your patio furniture.

“Boost the cleaning power of vinegar by mixing a half cup of white vinegar with a cup of ammonia and a quarter cup of baking soda.

“Mix everything in a gallon of water, keep it handy, and brush it on with a sturdy toothbrush to get rid of stubborn mildew.

“Vinegar’s versatility as a cleaner can also be applied to all kinds of mesh and plastic furniture, as well as umbrellas.”
